Verb Ventures Leads £1.5m Seed Round in Installio

We’re thrilled to have led Installio’s £1.5m seed round.

The UK needs to install around 600,000 heat pumps per year by 2028. Today, the market is delivering closer to 100,000. The technology works, and subsidies are in place — but the real bottleneck is installation capacity.

Heat pump installation is complex. It’s a multi-day process involving electricians, plumbers, and refrigeration specialists working in sequence. Errors in sizing, safety checks, or commissioning can lead to costly failures, while quality varies widely across thousands of small contractors transitioning from gas boilers.

Installio addresses this challenge by acting as a digital foreman for installers. Its Co-Pilot app breaks each installation into stage-gated checklists, requires photo evidence at every step, and flags issues in real time — ensuring problems are fixed on site rather than discovered weeks later.

The impact is meaningful. Apprentices can now handle up to 80% of standard tasks by following the app, while senior engineers supervise multiple installations remotely. In a market facing a severe shortage of qualified heat pump engineers, this kind of force multiplication is critical.

Founded by Michael May, William Hoyer Millar, Robert Reid, and Raphael Sibille, Installio is not trying to reinvent heat pumps. Instead, the team is building the operational infrastructure required to deploy clean energy technology at scale.

Already working with E.ON Next, Aira, and Good Energy, Installio is growing around 40% month-on-month, with installations doubling every two months. The team also plans to expand beyond heat pumps into solar, EV chargers, and other green energy technologies.

The clean energy transition won’t fail because the technology doesn’t work. It will fail if we can’t install it properly, consistently, and fast enough. Installio is solving that problem.
